A tiny action camera with some clever tricks

The Go 2 is an action camera that’s really compact (more so than GoPro cameras) and still packs in a ton of exciting features. The camera itself is tiny, just 0.93oz in weight and not even the size of an adult thumb. It charges in its case, which itself charges over USB–C. The case is multi–functional with a small set of controls that let you configure all sorts of recording modes and parameters. You can also shoot with the camera in its case which extends battery life from 30 minutes in basic mode to 150 minutes. Higher quality and special modes lower the amount of time you can shoot on a single charge. The case even works as a tripod too, and the camera is waterproof.

There’s some clever computing going on, with algorithms and gyroscopes combining to automatically eliminate camera shake in real time, automatic horizon levelling and cinematic looks. You can shoot at up to 2560x1440 at 50fps, with HDR, timeshift, timelapse and slo mo modes at different resolutions also available. The lens is super wide, at around 11mm equivalent and you can use the companion iPhone app to change settings, control shooting and preview in real time. It creates a Wi–Fi connection to your phone to do this and to transfer files off the camera’s storage, as Bluetooth is too slow.

It comes with a magnetic pendant and clip for attaching to your clothing or hat, and a pivot stand for affixing to surfaces. The video quality is really very good and the stabilization remarkable. It’s all very point–of–view style footage of course, but this is a great little action camera that punches well above its weight.
