A portable MagSafe charger that betters Apple’s own
RAVPower’s Magnetic Wireless Power Bank is a portable battery pack — with MagSafe built in, you can snap it to the back of your compatible iPhone 12 or 13, the array of magnets inside allowing it to auto–align with your iPhone.
The black casing doesn’t feel premium but, thankfully, it’s not priced like it. It’s entirely plastic, which is good for keeping the weight down, but feels a bit creaky. Due to its size, it’s too wide to work with the iPhone 12 mini or 13 mini, and due to its length, it won't fit the iPhone 13 Pro at all due to its large camera bump, though it works fine with the iPhone 13 Pro Max.
Once attached, the connection is solid, so you can use your phone as normal without worrying about it falling off. It adds some bulk to your phone, but its weight is low and well distributed.
Inside is a 5,000mAh battery. That’s the same as many competing products, and more then Apple's offering, and is enough juice to recharge an iPhone 12 once over. The LED indicators let you see how much charge is left at a glance and charging up via the USB–C port doesn’t take long. That same port also works as an output for when you need to plug something in to charge.
Unlike many alternatives, RAVPower’s magnetic battery pack offers 7.5W of wireless charging. With other Qi chargers providing only 5W, including Apple’s solution, that’s a 50% gain in charging speed, and it’s noticeable in real life, even if it’s not groundbreaking.
