Caldigit’s Thunderbolt Station 4 has 18 ports and is compatible with all USB–C devices, with some functionality and top speeds being dependent on the computer you connect it to. The dock is very well built and can supply up to 98W of power to a laptop and extra to USB devices.

There’s a dizzying array of ports on offer. The front panel contains full size and micro SD UHS–II slots, an audio combo jack, USB–A port, and two USB–C 3.2 ports. On the rear, there are four further USB–A 3 2 ports, DisplayPort 1.4, another USB–C, and Thunderbolt 4/USB4 to computer — your main data connection. Two further Thunderbolt 4 ports provide 15W power and 40GB/sec transfer, and there are separate 3.5mm audio in and out jacks, which can be used instead of the front facing one.

As well as mains power, there’s a security lock slot and also 2.5 Gigabit ethernet, a newer standard that’s compatible with conventional Gigabit ethernet. An 8K monitor is supported on Windows only, and Intel Thunderbolt 3 Macs can drive one 6K or dual 4K monitors at 60Hz, with M1 Pro Macs going up to dual 6K. It’s worth checking the site to see what your specific Mac allows. Most of the USB ports allow device charging even when no computer is connected, and a free app for Mac only lets you eject all your connected drives en masse.

This is a superb dock, compatible with everything from an iPad Pro to a Mac. For pro users, it's an effective way to connect pretty much anything you need.
